I have found guys say anything they find wrong with you as baggage. I am someone who have many male friends, they are only friends, no sex. Would that be baggage to you too?
As an animal lover I wouldn't call having pets being baggage and I think it's only healthy to have both male and female friends cuz people that do often understand eachother better. The harsh truth about baggage that some guys try their damndest to avoid talking about is children which I find monumentally stupid

Pets in the eyes of some would be considered baggage, you would probably want it clarified, but if somebody has a problem with friends, expecting you to give them up, why would you even want to bother with such a person anyway? For the most part I think what is meant is the emotional past relationship stuff, so THAT you can pretty much assume, but on occasion it does include some of the other mentioned items. It's the kind of thing you might want clarified before proceeding.

from experience, kids are always baggage. Sorry but I'd rather have my kids give them up to be with any guy who sees my kids as something negative. If a man doesn't want kids, I understand that but why use a derogatory term towards them? That I never understood.

Kids are baggage, that's just the way it is. It's just up to the guy to decide if he's ok with the baggage that the woman brings into the relationship.
