Open Relationships
I want to understand this whole "open relationship" thing... I have encountered quite a few guys lately and that's al they're interested in. Is it a new form of commitment-phobes?

Re: Open Relationships
I have no idea what an Open Relationship is... but from a search on google here is what I found,
- Code: Select all
A relationship in which two people agree that they want to be together, but can't exactly promise that they won't see other people too. Basically, to have it all: a significant other and the freedom to hook up with other people. Common during college for many post-high school relationships.
"Are you still with Joe?"
"Well, we're in a open relationship now. And it's don't ask, don't tell."
"Are you okay with that?"
"Yea, it's college, and there are so many cute guys out there..."
Now can someone confirm this myth? or perhaps enlighten us about the latest trends in relationships

Re: Open Relationships
I think the only problem I have with the definition is that it's for the college aged people... At what point do you just want a commitment...

Re: Open Relationships
I think its more of an individuality issue, then a college vs real world issue. I mean I wouldn't signup for such a relationship whether I'm in college or high school or even in kindergarten. It just doesn't suits me. On the other hand, people can try stretching the "Open Relationship" thingy into "Open Marriage", so there is no end to it. Then again, I can only speculate. It would be better to hear from someone who has been through such a relationship and can share with us the psychology behind it and how or why it ended.

I think its more for those who as you say are not really into the whole commitment thing, also
i think its more of a trend to have fuck buddies now, so people think hey?! why not have a open
relationship then if i want those cuddles, or want to go out when im bored i can call blah blah lol
I think you know if all sides are into it fair rnough but then i wonder if the other people they are
fucking are lead to believe they could have something special?! or be left hurt, but it seems
that people just want to screw around rather then settle down... yet they wont settle down with
the one that has screwed around?! makes no sense lol! TBH id prefer settling down knowing i can
get married, have kids, and a loving partner, rather then being cheap and putting my body out there
to basiclaly be used and to use someone else.... x

Re: Open Relationships
for me right now it 'seems' like a good idea because ive' been in three 6-7 yr. long relationships and i dont want to waste any more time.....im scared of hurting i guess. no time for that. I guess i'll focus on my art for once ....But its still nice to get laid. i'm going to do that for a while & FIND 'her' this time.

I 100% Agree with you becuse i think your body is a gift from God respect it, it's precious look after it. Use it for rite reasons Don'y abuse it. And for the people who think hey lets have open relationship don't realise that how many open diseases also come with it too. Becasue as you have been open to every one so as the other person, I think open Relationship idea is for people who think from down below but not from upper story and they are the people who faces consequences of being lonely in life later on.

Re: Open Relationships
An open relationship is FWB. Just something people(probably a guy) made up to have sex with anyone and keep something on the side...

Re: Open Relationships
I am in an open marriage and unlike the opinions listed here it was actually my wifes idea but a mutual decision. First, we are not lacking anything at home so forget that myth. Second, the only way an open marriage will survive will be if you have a very strong relationship, not a weak one. There is absolutely no room for jealousy. You have to absolutely know that your spouse is comitted to you or you could spend all your time wondering when they are about to leave. The whole point is that sex does not equal love. It just allows us to meet and experience new people and have new experiences. We only get one time around at this life and experiences at the end of the day is all we have. We are the only ones in the animal kingdom that spend our lives with one mate. I dont say this type of relationship is for everyone but it definitely works for us.
