I'm just curious to know the opinions of guys out there...do personal websites like this work? Probability wise, would you go out on dates with girls you meet online? Plus what do you think about girls contacting you through the sites (you're flattered, give it a try with her, causal fling or...)?

what do you mean by "work"? it is unclear to me frankly? do you mean most users can find a good match through this kind of sites? I suppose it is what you mean. If so, I don't even think it matters. The function of this kind of site, as I see, is to provide a convenient, and a safe way to contact some others, and thus provides possibilities for further developing the relationship, it is enough as long as it functions well this way.

Well, personally, it strongly depends on the first impression of those girls to me, and whether we had enjoyable conversation online before the date, (and less importantly, also on some other desiderata like whether she is living too far away), and I'd rather have a phone chat before going out and date. isn't it meaningless to come out and date if I don't even enjoy talking with her?

contacting as such doesn't give me much important impression, it shows she is active enough to contact, and as i see, nothing more. if some girIs contact me, I would appreciate it at the moment, and I would treat it as a good chance to know her. Just talk, and see whether we are good match, (no matter "match" in the sense of being friend, or as dating partner)

Personally, I also enjoy intellectual conversation, I hope that my view is not too shallow:)

oh no i do appreciate the serious reply! Gave me more a perspective of guys towards dating websites even though I don't really believe that it "work" in the way of getting a relationship but to me is more a social function.

I am in the same boat as you. I just signed up, and i dont really know if anything is going to come out of this. I have never done online dating. I don't expect much, if not its a good forum to chat with different people.
