can an ex really be just a friend?

Postby novaharts 243 days, 12 hours ago

I would like to know what the guys out there think. I had a boyfriend who told me his best friend was a girl. That was ok, then he said (after some time) that they used to see each other and they were engaged. Can ex's really be just friends, or is one of them holding on hoping for more one day?

It really depends. In my case I'm friends with some ex girlfriends, the others are locked up, :DJ/K. But in all seriousness we get along great except for one she knows not to talk to me anymore. The others well there is no indication from them or especially me that we are going to get back together or fool around. But I think everyone has that one that got away and you just kind of hang around for whatever reason that maybe. An ex really can be a friend, but sometimes you will have that one ex that will always be more than just their ex.

Honestly, it can go either way. They can be friends and only friends but you have to keep your eyes open and not be so naive when it comes to seeing signs that they're NOT 'just friends'. Don't just take his/her word for it. Be perceptive and don't make excuses for him/her either. Follow your gut and you'll be fine.

It depends on how far the "Friendship" goes. Is it talking daily, or even several times a week or more? Or is it simply not holding any resentment for one another, and being able to be civil when bumping into each other or when remembering that the other has his/her copy of Fletch?

The latter is fine, the former, not so much. If there is habitual contact, somebody is keeping their foot in the door just waiting for another chance.

Yeah ex's cannot be friends
I personally am not friends with my ex's
Tried a couple a times to be friends with my ex fiance
He always tried to make it more
even if he was attached at the time
If you have a history with someone, I don't think you can be "friends" without the benefits coming up sooner or later
