Not true in most cases we really have no idea who that person is.
They do know who it is, they can look at persons profile.

They can see a picture or up to six pictures and up to a paragraph. Maybe I'm a little more skeptical than most but I would prefer to talk to somone for a bit and get a feel for them myself. I don't necessarly take wink wink as an open invitation to talk. Maybe I should?

*wink wink* means I'm nervous about chatting... or it means I don't want to waste my time typing if it's not going to be replied to. Or it could mean I'm contacting every female I see and typing a message for each would take too long.

Oooh. I figured people wink from all around the world. I just thought it was a harmless compliment. Does everyone that winks really want to talk to those they winked?

Morning wrote:Honestly, answering back usually entails a lot of annoying messages back. I've tried the nice approach and told them I'm not interested and they're not what I'm looking for but then I get tons of messages back about why? Or even messages where they're trying to insult. And yes homeport, there are a lot of ways to let someone know you're not interested but the majority seem not to take the nice approach very well at all.
I don't think replying back with a polite "thanks but no thanks" obligates you to any further conversation. Not everyone who contacts you will be rude. However for those who don't take no for an answer, then I would say don't bother to reply again and block that person from further contact if necessary. I understand what you are saying... I truly do... but I still think that kindness and courtesy are sadly missing from these sites...
