Life is a Risk - Love is a Risk
Life is a risk. Love is a risk. Whenever you open your heart and mind to someone - you take a risk. Sometimes we take the biggest risks within the family. Family members know your areas of vulnerability. The members of your family have a greater ability to cause pain and hurt than any other. They know exactly what buttons can be pushed to get a reaction. Family members can also bring the greatest joy. Life is a risk - you sometimes just have to step out in faith. I know that in my life, I have taken chances. I have risked. Sometimes I win, sometimes I loose. My personal motto 'carpe diem' - seize the day. Love with all your heart and soul - you never know when you may get another opportunity. What do you think - What is your perspective on taking a risk? Are there some circumstances that are less risky than others? I would like to hear from you. Have you experienced challenged relationships within the family? Have you learned strategies to overcome the challenges that you have faced or have you walked away deciding that the challenges outweighed potential joy.

Excellent perspective! I too have faced many challenges from both family and outsiders, and agree, family can cause more pain, because of what they know about you and your weakness'. The risk taking, as a part of life, is what makes us stronger and more adaptable, what doesn't kill you(emotionally and psychologically) will definitely make you stronger and able to adapt to any situation. Taking a risk on letting someone into your life is a scary thing, especially when you have been hurt numerous times, but life wouldn't be worth living without taking risks. If you never take risks, you miss out on some of the most exciting people and times. In order to benefit from these experiences, you must be willing to accept the possibility of the pain of rejection, as well as the pleasure of acceptance. I don't want to live my life thinking, What if I had only taken that risk!

Without the element of risk it wouldn't be near as rewarding.

How do you think we feel, maybe all the good women aren't necessarily on another continent, but given the size of this one, they might as well be, for crying out loud, must everyone live hundreds if not thousands of miles away? Who's the idiot that coined the phrase global village? Village my ass. Must have worked for one of the oil companies and wanted us all to mortgage the house to buy their overpriced gas. I'm getting kind of sick and tired pulling into a gas station and watching them rub their hands with a gleeful look on their face.
