Re: First Date
Well, after I discovered fire and invented the wheel....
Seriously, I'm trying to remember! I think my first date was when I was 14. We went to the movies--can't remember which one now... after all that was in the 60's.

Re: First Date
That has stirred the brain to remember.
I was 20 a late starter, could not mix with boys Dad would kill me. I went to a dance and it was good, we spent the hours snogging in the booth in the dark, that was as far as it went. I remember him though. that was 30yrs ago now. Wow time does fly past.

I'm not sure that dating at 20 is late. Don't you think you had a better idea of what you wanted, than you would have had you started dating earlier?

Re: First Date
Hi Anne good to meet you.
Regarding starting to date at 20 I can tell you for sure it was not something that had crossed my mind before then with studying and having a very strict Dad. Mum passed away when I was very young and Dad rulled with an iron hand, although never raised his hand to me. I l did not know what I wanted at that age, I wonder if I know now? I had Uni and lots of things in front of me and many things I wanted to do in life. I did not marry until I was 40 and was widowed at 50 not a good record. Thats life. Thanks for that Anne.

Re: First Date
Wow, you have a pretty interesting story. I just read that in the US in 2008 the median age for marriage was the oldest since the U.S. Census started keeping track in the 1890s: almost 26 for women and almost 28 for men.
I think it's great to hear that you felt motivated to pursue other priorities than marriage. That's not always accepted regarding women. I'm not against early marriage or for it. I think it's pretty case sensitive, but it's hard coming to terms with what you think you should do and what you want to do.

Thankyou for post. I never thought myself as interesting or my life, its just ticked along and a career was a priority from Dads point of view so thats how it was. After 20 teaching I am now doing something that I love driving fancy cars just for the hell of it. I know that the Baby Boomers did not marry til around late 30s and started the family at 40. I am not a boomer. Geat to hear from you again. Regards
